I am doing some very simple titles in Motion - basically 90% white on a black backgroud.

The text is clearly blurry or very 'soft'

I have ensured the y attributes on the text box, the layer and the achor are whole numbers, thinking that perhaps has an effect.

I have ensured that under the 'Group tab' - the fixed resolution is not checked.

What's going on? Any help is greatly appreciated!

are all the layers at 100% scale. Is the font size as big as it can be? ie you havent increased the scale of the layer that the text is in? Have you applied any filters to the text that might cause it to rasterise and then scaled it up in the inspector?

You might try disabling "motion blur" (e.g. in the Render menu or when actually exporting). If that fixes it, the camera's probably focusing in front of or behind the text.

I usually use the Perspective camera to check that the text/objects are falling inside the camera's focal distance.
