Often on my IMAC a notice comes up "Leave page" or "stay on page".  If I  hit "stay on page" the screen goes all white.  If I say "leave page" I lose all my work.  How do I fix this?

    Hi Carol,

This isn't an issue with your computer - it's the way webpages are built.

What website are you using and what are you doing on that website when you get that dialog box? Maybe I can try an explain what's happening and how to avoid the issue.

It happened when I was asking this question and yesterday it happened twice on Yahoo email and twice on

    Pages.
I don't think it could be the web page as 3 have been involved in the past 2 days and many others before then

    Hi Carol,

I'm assuming your pressing the Back button on your web browser or clicking on a hyperlink before pressing the "Add Reply" when posting on these forums.

You need to make sure you press the buttons provided by the website to navigate around (eg: the Add Reply and Cancle button seen below when posting comments), rather than the Back and Forward buttons on your web browser. If you do this, you shouldn't get the dialog prompting you to "Leave Page" or "Stay on Page"

Hope this is information is useful,

I will but as said it happens on Yahoo email, on pages, on numbers, on Iphoto, on documents etc.  I think the majority of time it happens on Yahoo email.  I appreciate your response.  Since you are obviously good at this, my mouse sometimes drags a quarter inch black line wherever it goes.  This usually happens when I wake up the IMac but other times as well.  The only way to get rid of it is a restart.

I don't know why the applications Numbers, Pages and iPhoto would be causing the issue you have described. I've only ever seen the dialog box appear in web browsers - hopefully someone else can you help you with that.

In terms of the black line appearing whilst moving the mouse cursor around, I have only ever seen this when Screen Sharing with another computer so I can't help you with that sorry. The only thing I can suggest creating a new post about the issue, hopefully someone else can help you with that.
