Apr 28, 2012 7:17 PM in response to sweetpea893by randers4,I think you mean you are seeing it in iTunes on your computer (not in the iTunes store). This chart will show you what the iCloud status symbol mean that you are seeing: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4124. Based on your description, it soulds like you are seeing the first one, which means that the song is not eligible to be uploaded to iCloud, either because it is the wrong type (such as a video) or isn't high enough quality (encoded with a bit rate less than 97 kbps) or is too large (> 200MB). You can see what the problem is by going to iTunes>View>View Options and checking Bit Rate and Size. Then scroll to the right and check the size and bit rate of these songs to see if they are too large or have a bit rate under 97 Kbps.

Apr 28, 2012 7:25 PM in response to randers4by sweetpea893,Hi I had a look and most seem to be around the 3.2mb and 128kbps. Are those ones ok? There is a couple there that are videos, would these be stopping the rest from transferring? thank you for taking the time to help me.

Apr 28, 2012 7:32 PM in response to sweetpea893by sweetpea893,also just looking in itunes they appear to have another symbol in the second row , its a circle with like an explanation mark in it, the next row has the name of the song?

Apr 28, 2012 7:36 PM in response to sweetpea893by randers4,Those should be okay. Also, videos would not stop eligible songs from uploading. Are any of these songs purchased from other sources such as online retailers other than iTunes (like Amazon)? If so, then may be protected songs (than have DRM copy protection) and those would not be eligible for uploading either.

Apr 28, 2012 7:39 PM in response to sweetpea893by randers4,The songs with an exclaimation mark encountered an error when trying to upload to iTunes Match. Try going to Store>Update iTunes Match. This will initiate another review of your music library and should attempt to upload these songs again.

Apr 28, 2012 9:12 PM in response to randers4by sweetpea893,HI I have done, that it nothing has changed, I asked my husband and most of the music was taken from cds and then itunes, is there a way to sync my phone and ipad to music without going through icloud? We use to have the music on both until icloud. Thanks again for you help.

Apr 28, 2012 9:28 PM in response to sweetpea893by randers4,If you are an iTunes Match subscriber you have to download your music from iCloud. The only way to sync your music to your phone is to disable iTunes Match. I re-read your ealier post, and I'm wondering if you see a circle with an exclaimation point or a cloud with an exclaimation point like this:
If it's a cloud symbol like the one above, Apple documention recommends that you try re-importing the CD into your library to see if that fixes it. If, on the other hand, it's a circle rather than a cloud it may mean that iTunes can't locate the song on your computer. Try double clicking on the song to see if it plays. If it does, then that's not the problem.

Apr 28, 2012 10:03 PM in response to randers4by sweetpea893,HI, It appears that the last part is the problem. The songs don't play. It states that it can't locate them! My husband saved them to a stick but most have done something in the process.Have we lost everything then in itunes or can we transfer back from the memory stick to itunes.I really do appreciate your help. thanks

Apr 29, 2012 8:36 AM in response to sweetpea893by randers4,If all the songs are still on the memory stick this is a fairly easy problem to solve. Do the following:
- Close iTunes if open, plug the memory stick into your computer, open iTunes again and confirm that the exclaimation point symbols are gone and that the music now plays. If some songs are still missing and won't play, continue with steps 2-4.
- Go to Preferences, on the Advanced tab check "Keep Media Folder Organized" and check "Copy files to iTunes folder when adding to library", click OK.
- Go to File>Library>Organize Library...>Consolidate Files. This will copy the music from the memory stick to the iTunes library on your computer.
- Remove the memory stick, close iTunes, reopen iTunes, confirm that the songs will still play.
- Add the music to iTunes Match by going to Store>Update iTunes Match
If any songs were missing at step 1, you'll have to add them to the memory stick and repeat steps 1,3 & 4 until all the songs in your library will play and none are missing; then finish by performing step 5.

May 5, 2012 8:38 PM in response to sweetpea893by sweetpea893,Hi, I have tried the above and it doesn't appear to work as well. I have done the step one and all symbols were still there. I then did step 2 and 3 and nothing appeared to be happening....Have repeated these steps numerous times with no results.
Thanks for all your help.

May 5, 2012 9:14 PM in response to sweetpea893by randers4,Try the following:
- Open iTunes and go to Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and uncheck "Keep iTunes Media Folder organized" and uncheck "Copy files to iTunes Media Folder"
- Exit iTunes
- Plug in your memory stick with the songs
- Restart iTunes
- Click on one of your songs in iTunes to play it
- At the prompt, select Locate, then navigate to this song on your memory stick and select OK (or whatever menu item indicates that you've found it)
- At this point iTunes should prompt ask if you want to locate similar files, confirm that you do
- See if it this locates the other missing songs on your memory stick, if it does, proceed with steps 2-5 in my earlier post

May 5, 2012 9:31 PM in response to sweetpea893by randers4,Also, if this doesn't work, probably the easiest thing to do is just delete all the songs in your iTunes library and re-import them from your memory stick. To do this:
- Turn off iTunes Match by opening iTunes and going to Store>Turn Off iTunes Match
- Click on the music folder in iTunes on the top left, click on any single song to the right, go to Edit>Select All, press the Delete Key. This will delete all the songs in your library. (Don't worry, the songs aren't there anyway; they are on your memory stick).
- Go to Preferences, on the Advanced tab check "Keep Media Folder Organized" and check "Copy files to iTunes folder when adding to library", click OK.
- Go to File>Library>Organize Library...>Consolidate Files.
- Plug in your memory stick and import all your songs again. This time they will be copied to your computer.
- Unplug the memory stick and confirm that the songs still play in iTunes, and that there are no exclaimation points
- Turn on iTunes Match again (Store>Turn On iTunes Match)
