I'm having the same problem, suddenly. It is also happening in Firefox. I've checked all my settings in both browsers and in Adobe--and I stil can't get a PDF to open in Firefox. It will open in Safari, but it won't let me save it.

Well we all are having this PDF pblm. It was caused buy ADOBE. It's easily solved buy deleting some ADOBE plug-ins.

TRY this: In Finder window>Go>Computer>HD>Library>Internet Plugins, then move both Adobe plugins to trash.

Now all we be back to normal

Thank YOU!.  It worked.  Yeah! .  I only deleted the lasted plug in dated 4-22-12 named AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin and restarted and it worked!  Wonder what that plugin does.  Probabaly gathering secret data from my computer.  HOL!  That's howling out loud!

I went to the Genius bar and the solution seems to be to make Safari preview your default pdf viewer for all pdf files.  Then i had trouble printing the file after sucess viewing all pdf files through Safari and preview. When i clicked on the pull down menu print option if showed a blank page.  I found that if i scroll down on the pdf once it was opened a printer icon appears that prints the pdf fine

larry246  your idea worked i had tried just deleting the adobepdf viewer but it didn't work so i tried your idea and placed  both the adobePDFviewer pugin and the adobePDF ViewerNPAPI plugin in the disabled plug ins folder or trash and restarted my Mac and all was well again if i still want to use Adobe. If not just make Preview your defaul pdf viewer

I have found the same problems in Safari and Firefox. I downloaded Chrome and I am able to open the (online) pdf file and print them.

Hi, Im having the same issue with my MacBook Pro. I was able to preview a PDF File within Safari and I could hover the mouse over the bottom of the screen and then click to download, print etc.

Some update has taken place on my computer and I am now unable to either download a PDF File from certain sites like my University Portal nor Preview files within the Safari Brower.

I do have the files mentioned on here if I go to: Library - Internet Plug-ins:

    - AdobePDFViewer.plugin

    - AdobePDFViewer.NPAPI.plugin

Also in: Applications - Utilities - Adobe Reader*

Now the Problem I have is I cant move to the desktop and delete from the desktop as I end up with a duplicate so to speak.

When I try and delete them from the folders directly I get the following error message:

"The operation can't be completed because some items had to be skipped. For each item, choose File > get Info, make sure "Locked" is deselected, and then check the Sharing & Permissions section. When you are sure the items are unlocked and not designated as Read Only or No Access, try again."

*The 2nd issue is the Adobe Reader is faded out and has the circle going through it and is faded out ?

I have re-installed the operating system, tried to deleted the items in safe mode to no avail !

    Please Help ...
