    What is "hardly any use?"

it will be totally run down(in the red ), i will completely charge it via usb and computer, i will take it in my room and maybe play 5 songs, not play it for a day, and its a dead battery.

Let's determine if it's a battery problem or a battery indicator problem.  The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.  Charge it overnight using a known good charger (Apple wall-mount, if you have one).  Then use it heavily until it shuts down automatically.  Ignore the battery indicator.  Ignore any low-level alerts that may appear.  How much total operating time did you get?

An irony is that doing a test (per the above procedure) to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery indicator.

I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
