    Hi,

It would be really helpful to us to be able to help you if we knew what says there is no camera connected.

    Photo Booth ?

    iChat ?

    Some other app ?

What have you done to try and fix it ?

    Hi,

So I take it you have not tried Photo Booth or that you do not open it regularly and therefore have no idea if Photo Booth reports a Camera or not.

In your words iChat does not work because you cannot get iChat to say there is a camera there

As you did not answer what you have tried to fix it I am left with the conclusion you have done nothing.

    Read this

It has various sections at the bottom for different Mac models.

Find your instructions  and Reset the SMC/PMU

You have marked the Thread and my post in particular as the Correct answer.

There was no answer in my post.

I am running into the same problem with iChat and Photobooth.  How did you fix it?  I have the Early 2011 MBP.

    Hi,

On the whole it is a question of checking whether different apps work with the camera.

Could be a Flash based web site to try it in a Browser.

    Could try Photo Booth,

    iMovie,

Quicktime X (or Quicktime 7 with a Pro key)

If none work then check the System Profiler/System info  (Apple Menu icon and then hold the ALT key) and see if in USB the Internal iSight is seen.

Most of this is in the Apple article Trouble Shooting iSight

After running through those steps the article suggest an SMC/PMU reset and provides a Link to this.

(which I listed on the 17th September)

    • If Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

suggestions do not help you, (are you certain that you

used the correct "reset" procedure?), yours is most likely a

hardware problem that will require a professional fix.

Unless you have a current backup, make one now.

Then use the final "Troubleshooting" suggestion:

"... contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service."

    Hi,

AS EZ Jim says if you have done the checks and then looked in System Profiler then the Trouble Shooting link I gave earlier and EZ Jim's HT2090 link are the same place.

This Trouble Shooting iSight/HT2090 link lists doing an SMC/PMU reset to try and get the Camera to be recognised by the System Profiler/Information app.

If that does not work then it is as EZ Jim quotes ....

Time for an Engineer.  (Service Provide/Store/Genius or more involved digging about in the innards)

Can apple please fix the problem asap?  This problem existed since I updated the second update of mountain lion, and I was expecting apple would solve the problem in mevericks but obviously they didn't do anything.  Apple, please solve the problem, your users are suffering!

    Thanks
