My timemachine backs up my internal HD to the external HD as usuall...BUT it then pulls all the data off the drive and sets up for the next backup and does it all over again...can someone help me..?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.5.8)

    Is the backup drive too small (or have directory corruption?).


    If it's too small, it'll keep deleted the oldest backups to make space which might be the backup just made!


    If it's got directory corruption, best bet might be to reformat it (as it's not got your backups on it anyway) and try again.

    Thanks for the quick reply...This is a brand new Hitachi G-Drive that is 2TB...I have tried to reformat as well...same result.  Any other ideas???

    Your new Hitachi 2Tb HDD has been formatted?


    Mac OS Extended (Journaled)?


    You selected the HDD in Time Machine Preferences as your TM backup HHD?


    It made a complete copy of you MBP files?  (This probably took a long time - depending on the amount of data you have)


    It now is coping all of your internal HDD data again, or is it simply doing a normal backup?




    Do you have windows on your MBP?
