when you type in the ip do you get to the webserver of the router?
and does that work as you expect?
if not how so?
your title is about setting up your router and you msg body seem to be about remote access
when you say remote access what do you mean?
do you mean some like remote desktop, teamviewer, vnc ?
or do you mean shared drives?

When the Belkin is running in a "default" configuration, you probably can see the PC on your Mac when both are connected to this WiFi network. If not download and install the latest version of Bonjour on the PC.
Also you have to SHARE the Folders on the PC that you want to share to your Mac.
If you want really remote, and you want to access your PC through the internet, You can install either Logmein on the PC and the Logmein plugin in the browser on your Mac; or Teamviewer on both as an alternative.
You have to set this app on the PC to run always (it should start with start of the PC). The PC must be set to automatically restart with automatic login of the user account, when it shuts down for a reason.
I run a large network of process PLC's controlled by a fat PC, on 1000 KM distance. I use both Teamviewer and Logmein to be sure that I can enter the PC when there is a problem with one of these apps. Ofcourse the PC is on a UPC.
