Upon updating GarageBand

I can't open GarageBand after trying to update. it says installing.

iPad 2, iOS 5.1

    Two standard trouble solving techniques: restart your iPad; delete and re-install the app. I'd try the latter first, it sound like perhaps something messed up your update.

    Try the reset first. Removing the app could delete all your projects. You should be able to download and updated the app without actively removing the current copy.

    Tried both....read my issues.. Still wondering where my original GarageBand tracks are now and after deleting the app could I still get them back ???

    If you had uploaded the tracks to iCloud they could be redownloaded, or if backed up to iTunes they could be restored from there, or if you have multiple device backups, you could backup the device, restore an older device backup that contains the projects, upload them to iCloud, restore the current state of the device and download. If none of those avenues applies then they're gone.
