There is no cursor in the iPad. Thus, a mouse cannot be used.

This is the only cursor you can use on an iPad.

So what's that blinking blue vertical bar when I'm in a text entry field?  Yeah, thought so ...

That's the text insertion indicator. There is no cursor, one that allows a user to point to select items to be controlled or commanded, as there is with Mac OS X, Windows or Linux.

LOL, which I take as "cursor".

Look, I get it that the iPad doesn't support the use of a mouse, but I can see the value of being able to use one for dropping the "text insertion indicator" into the middle of a paragraph and/or selecting a block of text.  To say that this is not possible because the iPad doesn't have a cursor is hooey ... it isn't possible because iOS wasn't designed with this in mind (and I'm OK with that, but others will naturally inquire about this capability).

Way to contribute something useful to the thread.

Now, we've reached the troll quota on this thread. You'd better pick another one.

Whether or not you consider the text insertion point to be a "cursor" or not, it's not the same thing. Without a general-purpose cursor, attempting to navigate via a mouse into any text box so that one could then use what you call a "cursor" would be very difficult, since there would be no feedback on the screen so as to help someone know how to get into the text box.

So I don't really understand the point you're attempting to make. There is no mouse support and no practical way to use one if a mouse could be connected, and won't be unless Apple make signficant changes to their design philosophy. Your insertion (no pun intended) of your comment serves no useful purporse I can see other than to confuse the issue and spark an argument. So let's leave things at this point.
