My Apple TV constantly loses it's home sharing connection. Then I must restart the Apple TV and it works. Sometimes it can do this up to 10 to 15 times while watching a movie. My Macbook Pro is fine and has home sharing turned on and in sync. So I think it's a Apple TV issue.

It's getting annoying...

Everything is up to date with current version..

Please help

Intermittant issues tend to be a result of interference so I would verify that first. Check www.istumbler.net

It's much easier to re-start the router.... NOT the TV.

Thanks for the reply and wifi analyzer dwnld.  I don't see interferences after looking at iStumbler.  The Apple TV unit doesn't lose internet or wifi connection. I still have access to all of the Apple TV's features (iTunes, NBA etc) it's just the HomeShare. It stops the movie and asks to turn on Home Sharing etc.  I have two Apple TV's so my next test is to run two movies at the same time running on the two seperate Applie TVs. I'm curious if it may be iTunes running on my Macbook.

It's unfortunate that there isn't a refresh button in iTunes or at least some sort of heart beat monitor for the home share. You would think Apple would create more tools or audit functions for it's home networking feature that is linking its products other than within iTunes (turn off homeshare or turn on)...?

thanks for the reply. my wifi router is fine and rarely needs to be restarted. it's not wifi issue as i can tell. all other devices using the wifi router are still connected to internet and actually so is the Apple TV. I can still use other features within Apple TV like Itunes and other channels. It's just the "home share" that loses connection to my macbook pro that holds my movies and music.

also since i'm lazy i'd rather use the remote control to cycle through the menu and restart the apple tv as it's the easiest thing to do. the only other thing that would work is if i went to room where the macbook is turned off the home share then turned it back on again...

but then again i'd have to get up

I have the same problem lately. It had been working well for a while but now the HS message is coming on frequently. I can watch Netflix and other similar content OK so it is specific to HS. I used to be able to fix it by unplugging the Apple TV and plugging it back in again but even that doesn't do it these days, nor going to my computer (which is pretty far away) and un-whatevering and re-whatevering. Very maddening!

Latest software update to appletv seem to screw things up.. same problem here. Used to work fine before I updated soft atv. Call apple and complian. The more we call, the faster they release the fix. They'd not admit the faulty update - asppears their policy or something.

I had the same problem with my Apple TV2 and iTunes on Windows 7, after 10 minutes watching something on the Apple TV it would then cut and say Home Sharing not connected and I would have to go and disable it through iTunes and then re-enable it.

After lots of searching I found there was a problem with Bonjour so uninstalled it in control panel/programs then restarted computer and reinstalled Bonjour from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL999 (it's named Bonjour Print Services for Windows v2.0.2).

After reinstalling it all has been fine and Apple TV works fine and have had no problems!

Well.. i am on MacBook pro. Not using windows... except on Parallels. And it is running pretty old version of Bonjour. Could this possibly be an issue??! My iTunes is on Mac.

Scan the Support Community sites. Apple TV losing connection is prevalent. The many postings point out the problem occurs with Apple TV1,2and 3; with different brands of router including Airport Extreme; from current and past versions of iTunes; after varying periods of working well.....minutes, hours, days; losing connection with Home Sharing and loosing Airplay; whether the router and Apple TV are in same room or separated by distance; after trying innumerable posted 'fixes'; after exchanging for a new Apple TV.

Readers, please don't post a fix until you check it works for atleast a week.
