Bill, I got exactly the same problem. It started after I updated my OS on my iPad. Before the update I didn't have any problems. All my TV series still appear to be normal in iTunes on my iMac.
There's NO problem with my Movies though. They all seem to be there. It just certain tv series are not there and show are double..
I turned home-sharing on/off on the iMac & iPad etc. No change.
Does anyone know what to do? I checked and I don't have any tv restrictions set. All my movies and tv shows got proper metadata attached to it (via iFlicks app). As I mentioned, everything was working fine until I updated my iPad two days ago.

Bill, it has something do with the unique episode ID. See this thread:
I resolved the problem by re-numbering each series. Just select the a complete set of episode -> get info -> video -> select unique episode ID. I started numbering, in iTunes on my iMac, from 1 to 101 (!!) and having the iPad next to me I saw each series appear one by one.
We shouldn't be doing this manually but for now it works. Hopefully this unique ID numbering isn't required in future OS updates.
