I am using a MacBook Pro, but what does that have to do with anything?
I live in an apartment building, not a dorm.
I pay about 10 dollars a month for my internet.
Anyway, I don't see how any of those question help or are even related to my question.
The wireless on my Mac works fine, on my PS3 works fine, on my Xbox 360 works fine, but my Apple TV can't seem to connect to it and also where are all the apps? Where is youtube and everything else?
You are right, the questions I asked had little to do with your situation; however, now there's a more clear understanding of your setup etc. I completely realize they we're odd questions but...
a) Do you have a Cat 5 Ethernet cable that you can use to connect AppleTV to your current router?
b) If so, can you reset the AppleTV device to factory?
c) Connect the Ethernet
c) Unplug the Apple TV power cord ... wait 30 seconds and plug it back in
d) check if it accesses the Internet
I don't know if you know this or not but....If you are online gaming with your PSIII via WiFi you'll get better performance via Ethernet. The latency caused by WiFi in gaming allows some competitors to respond against you more quickly
With DSL there's a pretty good chance streaming video content will buffer via WiFi
Are you using WEP or WPA2 ?
With the Asus Dark Knight all you configured was your POPe User name and password?
You left DHCP, as it defaulted from the factory, set to enabled?
And you input a custom network name or did you leave it at the factory default name? (it does not matter which one you did)
And you assigned a custom password/key to keep strangers out of your network?
So when you utilize the tiny silver handheld remote that comes in the boxes with the AppleTV and get into the AppleTV setup and:
a) select wireless
b) input your network name, either the default name of the Asus Dark Knight or the custom one you programmed into the router yesterday
c) input the Case sensitive custom password/key to keep strangers out of your network
...... you still can't get online via WiFi?
OMG I can't believe it worked!
I unplugged the LAN cable, selected my Asus router in the wireless section, typed in my password and BAM... I'm in, I finally have a wireless connection!
Thank you very much for your help and your patience.
Now to figure out if I can or can't and how can I stream music from iTunes on my Mac to both my apple tv in the living room and my airport express in my bedroom.
That's awesome news !
Although this video won't answer every question you just asked see if it helps any (the 2nd video, at the bottom)
Apple policy requires I let you know that if you visit the link I might derive some benefit from your visit or even potentially profit.
Thank you giving me the opportunity to work with you. I hope the information and video are useful
