The picture in this post will tell you where to find the file iWeb uses to store its assets :

The file you want to restore is named Domain.sites and is located in the Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. Therefore, launch Time Machine, navigate to your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder, select the domain file to restort it.

thanks for your reply unfortunately I can use TM until I resolve the issue of whether I reuse the question I get prompted when loading TM
"You haven't selected a location for the TM backups
Set up a new disk or use a previous disk"
I am thinking possibly just use previous, but not found anywhere that helps with that?
back to my issue I still can't see the folder you mention.... sorry to be special not sure where to look
System( name of machine) - Date for TM - Macintosh HD - Library - Application Support = no iWeb folder, plenty of others for iLife and iDVD
I can send screen shots if required?
thanks for your help

As I am using Lion I needed to unhide the folders using the script you mentioned and whoosh the file was found..
