I assume that there are thousands of us windering what to do when Mobile Me retires.

I don't mind about not publishing to Mobile Me, I can ftp to my host.

BUT, because I am a keen amateur web publisher, specifically publishing my Yacht Club website, and because I don't know php, HTML,  from dental floss, I really rely on iWeb's simple, (and I realise clunky) user interface.

There are hundreds of blogs, comments on the www about the demise of this fabulous little app.

Please can someone tell me if iWeb will still function post demise of Mobile Me, and if so for how long.

Very sincerely yours

for now.

My understanding is that Apple is getting out of the hosting game altogether. Meaning, iWeb sites will no longer have a home on Apple servers whatsoever. However, iWeb itself, will still continue to function but will most likely not be updated any longer past the current version, '09.

Your best bet IMO, would be to find a mac freidly web host and move your site over to them. That way you can still get some support for iWeb related issues. I use Machighway myself and they were able to help with the few issues I had back when I was still using iWeb. Before them, I struggled running my site on Dreamhost, who had no clue about iWeb whatsoever. That was a nightmare..

I also moved to Freeway a few years ago from iWeb as their software is updated more often and is just about as easy to use. Plus it a lot more felxible than iWeb, IMHO.

iWeb will still function although the slideshow may not...

The app does have some problems with IE V9 and who knows how the next OS X will treat it!

iWeb should be OK for keeping existing sites updated for quite some time but I wouldn't recommend it for new sites.
