That Up-to-Date programme finished last October or thereabouts. Yes, that Mac purchased new in 4/12 should have come with 10.7. Back to your vendor for help on that one.

my new imac came with Snow leopard installed, but the box labled "free upgrde to Lion using Apples' OS Up TO DAte" program, i have searched but find no such product or service anywhere in Apples tech support or sales/store. Was this real, or just another avertising come-on? The unit is a iMac 21.5 quad-core i5, purchased new in April 2012, so i do not understand why it did not come with Lion already installed ...and why I should now be forced to pay for the CURRENT OS which SHOULD have come with the unit as sold by Apple
Yes sounds like old stock sold as new stock. Straight back to place of purchase with that one. All Macs have come with Lion preinstalled for quite a while now.
