Q: AirPlay speakers on one source

I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this. How many AirPlay speakers can run simultaneously from one iPad 3?  My goal would be to have AirPlay speakers throughout the house all running off one iPad on a wi-fi network.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

If you want to AirPlay to multiple speakers simultaneously and have playback control from your iPad, you can use the Remote app on your iPad to control your computer, which can AirPlay to multiple speakers (the iPad can't, as mentioned above).  The Remote app lets you turn individual AirPlay "clients" on or off, and adjust their volumes independently, and of course change what is playing.  I do this and it works great, the only downside might be that you have to have your computer running.

Thanks RMPS.  If I use the method you state above, am I limited to iTunes as a source or will I able to access things like Pandora and SiriusXM?

I realise it is a while since the last post on this thread was placed but as the thread is still being issued in response to questions it needs updating.

Whaale Player which is available from the App Store allows you to connect up to 6 AirPlay Speakers.  I have been successfully using it to play music from my ipad2 to 2 speakers for the last three hours.  Sadly it does not yet distribute radio.

    Regards.
