I've bought a secondhand nano and after endless hours of trying to sync an audiobook from my itunes library onto it and getting the message "not authorised to use on this computer"  it would appear the only explanation is that it's because I'm not the registered owner of the nano.  Does anybody know how I can change this?

In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize this Computer from the drop down menu.  Then enter in your Apple ID/iTunes Store credentials.

Did you restore this iPod to factory settings?

Are you sure you down have purchases that were downloaded with another iTunes account?

Great minds think alike!!!  Just been mulling it over and realised my son initially set up itunes for me and I inadvertently bought the book whilst still in his account - thank you so much.  So simple when you know how

I'm still having problems with this audiobook.  It is in my son's purchase history but doesn't show up when his ipod is selected.  I bought 2 books on his account - 1 is a normal book (purchased in error) and the second is the audiobook.  The first "normal" book shows when you select his ipod but the audiobook doesn't.  The strange thing is that both books show when my ipod is selected even though they weren't purchased using my itunes account.  I'd be happy to sync the audiobook to his ipod but I can't even do this!!  Any help please?

Have you double checked to make sure these Audiobooks are configured to sync to your iPod Touch from under the iPod's Books configuration tab in iTunes?

To access this configuration tab, plug in your iPod and select it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes to bring yourself to the iPod's Summary tab.  Now locate the Books tab and select it.  Here you can configure what and how audiobooks are synced to the device.

If you make any changes to this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button on in the lower right hand corner.
