Are you running a 64-bit version of Windows and iTunes? If not, you should use the 32-bit driver.

Are there any other USB devices you connect to your PC? Are you using a high powered USB 2.0 port, preferably one directly soldered onto the motherboard?
What is the exact error message message Windows is giving you about the failed driver installation?
