I have had the 10.0.4 upgrade sitting in my App Store for a few weeks.  I was in the middle of a 10.0.3 project and remembering the chaos that the last upgrade caused I decided to wait till I had finished it before upgrading again.

Now I have finished the project, I took a deep breath and went for the 10.0.4 upgrade which promptly vanished when I tried to download it and Apple tells me everything is up to date, although still running 10.0.3!  Any ideas?

Strange things happen in the AppStore!

Delete the old FCP X and then visit the AppStore again.

Be sure to log in with the same Apple ID you used to buy the app.

(Your existing Projects and Events will be untouched when you install 10.0.4 - but you'll be prompted to update them).

You may move your 10.0.3 out of the application folder (just in case something goes wrong, otherwise you might actually delete it) and redownload 10.0.4 from the purchased section of the app store.

Just drag it to the trash and do not empty yet, if something goes wrong

Thanks gents - but are you sure Apple won't take another £199?

If you log in to the app store using the same Apple ID from which you purchased it, you can download and install again with no additional payment. You are allowed to install and use FCP X on the macs you personally own and control, with a single purchase.

Try moving the app to the trash and see if it will download then.

If it's from the App Store it will be 10.0.4.

If you want 10.0.3 that's not going work. The App Store always installs the current version.

Do you have another copy of FCP somewhere on you computer system, external drive ? AppStore will look everywhere for a copy and if it find one you will not be able to upgrade.
