If you don't want to use Keynote Remote, why ask?
Keynote Remote will work to run Keynote presentations residing and playing on macs or iOS devices.
- Use Keynote remote on an iPad to run a Keynote presentation on a MacBook Pro connected to a projector;
- use Keynote Remote on an iPhone to run a Keynote Presentation on a iPad connected to an Apple TV via AirPlay (though one wonders why)
Which way don't you want to use Keynote Remote?

I prefer to buy the physic remote, because it works with music, movies....
My idea is to connect the iphone in the projector and pass the slides by remote. Or control the itunes by it.
