I have the late 2011 version of MBP. 15.4" screen, 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 4 GB memory, and Intel HD Graphics 3000 on OS X Lion 10.7.3. I have looked at the system requirements for Sims 3 and don't know if my mac meets them (I am technologically illiterate). Can anyone tell me if I am? Here are the main and graphic requirements:

Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard or higher

Intel Core Duo Processor

2 GB RAM

ATIX1600 or NVIDIA 7300 GT with 128 MB Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMAX3100

at least 6.1 GB hard drive space with an extra 1GB

MAC OS X Supported Video Cards

NVIDIA GeFORCE Series

7300, 7600, 8600, 8800, 9400M, 9600M GT, GT 120, GT 130

ATI Radeon Series

X1600, X1900, 2400, 2600, 3870, 4850, 4870

Intel Graphics Media Accelerater (GMA)

GMA 3-series

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Serious compatibility problems have been reported with certain Sims 3 products and OS X Lion, especially 10.7.3.

Eek. Okay. Thank you. Is there anything I can do about...anything? I really want sims on my mac. I was going to get sims 2 for mac (I have the PC version now), but I looked and sims 2 is like $50 but sims 3 is only $25. How weird is that? But again, can I do anything?

Avoid Sims 3 Pets and watch the Sims website for news of available updates.

Okay. I have also read reviews of it. A bunch of them say they have had problems with installing it and registration codes and whatnot (I'm sure you've read/seen them too). Any suggestions on operating it? I haven't bought it yet, too busy reading up on it. I also found reviews about updates that EA suggests when it's being installed. Do you know anything about these?

And I heard bad things about Sims 3 pets too. they got like half a star, and one person said they would put zero if possible.

Buying or playing the Sims is about the last thing I'm ever likely to be interested in, but there has been a fair amount of chatter here about its problems with Lion; that's where my information comes from. Your best source of info and tech support is the EA forums.

I tried them. I also tried the Amazon reviews. Unfortunately, most of them don't know how to spell correctly, which to me means they are an unreliable source. Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

Spelling doesn't seem to be taught in American schools any more, so it's probably not their fault. But I agree, it's hard to overcome an ingrained reluctance to seek advice from the illiterate.

Haha. Glad you see it too.
