It appears the Ethernet port on my iMac 10,1  (Nov '09) stopped working suddenly.  When I plug the same cable into a laptop, the laptop connects to the Internet without problem. Checking System Preferences\Network\Ethernet says "Not Connected".  Assist me\Diagnostics\Ethernet says Ethernet"failed" and Network Settings "failed".  Since I know the cable works with the laptop, I clicked continue, and I get the message"unable to connect to the Internet Network Diagnostics cannot fix the current networking problems".  Is there some software I should reload? Is there some other diagnostic that I can run to find out if the logic board has gone bad, (the Ethernet port is an integral part of the logic board, isn't it?).  The AirPort works fine.
