I jus got a replacement I Phone 4 and was told not to restore back up as that may transfer problem to new phone.  If I set it up as a new phone in i tunes will I lose everything

    You won't lose media in your iTunes library (music, apps, etc.), or contacts and calendars synced to a supported program such as Outlook since all of this can be synced to your new phone, but you'll lose everything else.  Any iTunes or app store purchases can be redownloaded again for free.  You can try to extract data from your backup using iPhone Backup Extractor.  This may recover your photos, contacts and other data.  (You can read what data is contained in the backup in this article:

    You won't lose anything but in app data and text messages if you've been syncing properly.
