Apple sent me the disc to upgrade so that I can move to the cloud, but the program is not installing.  I don't know what else I should try.

    Which model MBA do you have? Did it come with Leopard (10.5.x)?

    Presumably this is the disc you're now using to try to install;

    So can you tell us what procedure you're following to do the install?

    Might be easiest, but just let me be sure what's happening.

    You're running the disc in an external SuperDrive I presume.

    Are you booting from the disc (holding down the opt key on start up and choosing the DVD from the startup manager), or are you just mounting it on the desktop as a normal DVD and trying to run it from there?

    You really need to be booting from the DVD, then after the language screen, ignore the installer for a minute and open Disk Utility from the Utilities menu at the top of the screen. Use that to verify/repair the internal HD.

    If that comes up ok, quit DU and continue the installation. (or try to).
