Did you ever figure out how to solve this?

Do you have a similar problem?

Are you using a WiFi network b/g or n? 2,4Ghz or 5Ghz? Lion seems to have a lot of problems with N and 5Ghz... Have you tried to disable WiFi security for a while?

I'm also having this problem. My Macbook is reliable on the internet, my friend is also using a PC and she's doing just fine with her internet connection.
My concern is this is a new computer and it makes me anxious that there is a problem with a component of it.
Are there any tests that can be ran to determine if hardware is working properly?

what make/model router do you have ? Does the wifi menu extra stay dark or turn grey when you see this happen ?

Using WiFi b/g, don't know what frequency this is , but I think 2.4GHz.
Don't want to turn off WiFisecurity as there are a few unknown neighbours.

The modem/router is Netgear N150 model DGN1000. WiFi menu doesn't change at all.

Can you sample your environment? Connect to your WiFi network and open a terminal (Applications - Utilities). Copy and paste these two commands, one at a time and then paste the results to this thread.

That router has really poor reviews:
Try picking up a different wireless router ( you get decent 11n routers for under 50$ on Amazon) and see if the issue persists.

I have a 27" iMac that is having this same problem ever since I downloaded the latest software update. I lose internet connection many times a day. Sometimes rebooting computer works, but most of the time it doesn't. I have tried resetting SMC and renewing DHCP lease. They sometimes work temporarily, but the airport loses internet connection very frequently.

I had the same problem and tried all the solutions taht everybody says to me. The only way I solution this is changing the router with an Apple Airport express.
Now my iMac and other devices are working wireless 100%.
