I am trying to restore an iPhone 4s using itunes. Itunes will not complete the restore. What do I need to do?

Start by telling us specifically what is happening.

You might not be able to restore it with a backup if it didn't save properly, try pressing shift on your keyboard and then clicking restore to select a backup that might work. however if that doesn't help, reinstalling the firmware might  do the trick, then install all your apps back from your iTunes through syncing.

if itunes is unable to restore you device just go to an apple store and ask them to do it for you

i had similar issue with my ipad2 which was eventually replaced as that can be a hardware issue on your iphone

coz itunes only downloads the restore file and then it is patched on to your phone which usually takes some time

your phone probably does not have the stability now to hold on till the restore is complete
