Q: iMac using Skype to video call to PC, video is fine, they can hear me but I cannot hear them

iMac Mid 2007 model Dual Core 2.8, 2Gig Ram, 500Gig HD

As per subject title:

iMac using Skype to video call to PC, video is fine, they can hear me but I cannot hear them

Annoyingly, when trying video call to the same person using MSN, video is fine but the voice problems are the other way around, I can hear them but they can't hear me. I have read this is a common problem

Skyp is my preference.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Check the Audio/Video preferences in Skype to make sure your microphone is selected.

Hi, I viewed Built in Mic (internal mic) and Bulit in Speakers (internalspeakers) in Skype Pref's, I already had this set correctly. The mic meter is picking me up and I can see myself in Skype video.

I don't know what is needed to fix the problem so I can hear the other person.

They, being on a PC notebook, could have problem with their settings perhaps, but my gut feeling is it is my end.

I was going to suggest what you mentioned in your last paragraph.  If your skype preferences shows that it is responding to the mic then I think the problem is on the receiving end.
