Most people find that it is a considerable improvement so your experience is  either due to some incompatibilities with your computer setup or the way you are using the app.

Just realised that saying the problem most likely lies in your setup or method of use is not particularly helpful in finding what you may be doing wrong.

So here are a couple of troubleshooting articles that may help get to the bottom of the problem.

In particular note the second article which mentions the potential problems created by compund clips.

You could also try googling or search in this forum for troubleshooting strategies.

Thanks Ian, this is good information, but none of the recommendations helped.

Until I updated, FCP was working perfectly, probably shouldn't have tried to fix what wasn't broken. I had about 100 hrs into a project. After the update, FCP crashes when I attempt to open any of my "in-process" projects. New projects seem okay. Do you know of a way to fix or convert existing projects to run with the update?

I contacted Apple support and they assisted. I ended up doing an XML export / reimport of the project. That solved the problem. Apparently the upgrade corrupted my in-flight projects.

Can you please tell me how to do this XML export? I don't know what that means. I am running FCP X on a Mac Book Pro OS X 10.7.4. I did the upgrade about a month ago and FCP seems to be getting slower and slower. I can no longer edit two projects I have in progress. The audio is delayed and the video jumps in both the Event and Project.

Also, how do you contact Apple Support? None of the menu items in support are for your FCP software. I can make a Genius Bar appointment, but none are available for a couple days. I don't care if I have to pay money to be talked through this. I'm on a deadline.
