Why is the addressbook layout in Lion looking so foolish?

Apart from that, I'd like to see both my address list and the groups list at the same time, as it was in older versions. How can I change that?

You can't. Lots of folks are frustrated with AB.

File Apple Feedback with Apple. The more who file the more likely they'll be to change it.

You can see your address list and groups simultaneously by double-clicking on the ribbon.

    The Tyranny of Upgrade.

I've posted this in the Apple Feedback (which is like sending some paper plane out I'm sure).

Address Book in Lion is an absolute disgrace.

It's utterly impossible to use and looks twee and ridiculous. What on earth is the point of 'upgrading' a perfectly usable piece of software to make it look like the kind of Address Book we were all getting way from by using our computer?!! It's a complete nightmare to check group addresses or even find anyone easily.  I HATE IT!!!

At the very least you should give us the option of viewing Address Book in the format that we had with Snow Leopard. There is talk that this bonkers Snow Lion upgrade - or is it Mountain Leopard (when are you going to run out of fast-moving animals ??) reverts to the three-pane view, but some of us have to keep our software compatible with our clients and are reluctant to move on. More upgrade increases the chance that we'll be stranded.

I am sick to death of these upgrades that send us backwards. I suppose you have top keep these twelve-year old software designers busy but do remember the user in all this flashy nonsense.

    Grrr Grrr and Thrice Grrrrr.

Addressbook/menu/view these are the 3 ways to see your addressbook.

Ah but that's just my point. Those options do not give me the three pane layout I had before. That's why this redesign is so stoopid.

It is what the latest Addressbook gives you. There no valuable alternatives I think.

There is Microsoft Outlook for Mac. Overkill.

It is probably possible to take Addressbook from Snow Leopard and implant it in Lion, like you can do with Frontrow.

I am not going to research that.

    It is not.

Hi C, I am curious, did you try it? In activity Monitor see what is running when Addressbook on. Then taking it from Coreservices in SL etc, like Ralph did with FrontRow?

I am not going to try it, I can manage with AB as it is now, but I am curious!

I have tried the previous AB in Lion, it does not work.
