If you are syncing with both iCloud and iTunes this will create duplicates. You need to pick one and disable the other. In Address Book on your mac you can search for duplicates with Card>Look for Duplicates. On your iPhone you can use an app likeRemove Duplicate Contacts and Events. Also, here's an article on resolving duplicates: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4147.

Thanks.. I picked iTunes over iCloud and have deleted lots of dupes but it still doesn't sync calenders or contacts.. AND to top things off everytime I open contacts it crashes my computer. 95,000 too many contacts in there.. I'll keep on this.. but more advice would be doubly appreciated..

Just a thought, but you might want to go with iCloud rather than iTunes. This would allow you to use the Remove Duplicate Contacts and Events app on your phone to locate and remove the duplicates with iCloud syncing enabled and the changes should (at least in theory) propogate both to iCloud, and via iCloud, also to Outlook. With iCloud syncing enabled you could manually delete one of the duplicates from your phone to confirm that the change syncs to Outlook, and if so, the app might clean up the whole mess for you.
However, if your computer is crashing when you open Outlook contacts you would need to get that problem fixed first. If you need to reinstall Outlook, these links may help:

Have you resolved this issue? I procrastinated going to iCloud until a month ago. Now I must upgrade my software to Leopard and Lion before I can sync contacts/calendar through iCloud. Apparently that will force me to also upgrade the Microsoft software. I've also heard there are more freezes/crashes. Syncing through iTunes does the duplicates thing. I would appreciate your insight and experience with this. Thank you!
