I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion today. The only issue I had was Apple Mail updating databse, after 3 hours the progress bar had not moved at all, I did a force quit on Mail program and restarted my iMac. Now I'm getting the following message when I open Mail program

Enter Password for Account "Mobile Me (iCloud)"

The Smtp server "p99-smtp.mail.me.com rejected the password. for user ...

I can logon to iCloud via web browser and use mail  without a problem. Any suggestions how to fix this in Apple Mail Program on my Mac?

My password meets the criteria, its the same mobile me password I've used for years. Mail settings will not allow me to chnag the server its poiting to p99-smtp.mail.me.com.

This is not Mobile Me, you have not used this password for years on iCloud !!!!!!

Either do it right (which includes the password) or struggle, I have given you the correct settings, use them.

I know the cloud is not mobile.me. However as a mobile.me subscriber I do keep my mobileme email address and password. Just to be clear my iPHone is sending and receiving mail from my .me adress. I can log onto icloud with browser and it accepts my password. Something is interferring with the Apple Mail on the my iMacand . Apple mail will not let me change the server address. I deleted the account and created a new one with the same results

As an iCloud user you MUST have a compliant iCloud password, if you do not then you may (for a while) be able to login at www.icloud.com, but clients may not work and eventually the website will fail also.

Read the posts and the solutions for the other users of this site in your predicament (this page, top right, labelled 'More Like This') or not, it's really up to you.

I solved the problem yesterday and it had nothing to do with passwords. In mail preferences Out Going Mail Server (SMTP) iCloud (ICloud) I checked the box use only this server.

Under Advanced settings I entered imap.mail.me.com in the IMAP Pathe Preffix, Port 993, Use SSL

    Authentication - Apple Token

That's what I posted (2nd post in the thread) and you still got it wrong,

SMTP (outgoing) port is 587 Imap (incoming) is 993, but I see you have awarded yourself the correct answer and you'll post back when it fails.

    Here is Apples recommendation

    You are incredibly RUDE...

That notwithstanding you are using the wrong settings, and they would still be wrong if I handed you a smile and a bunch of posies along with the info.

    Have a nice day.

He is. And he is all over the place. I wish there was a report option.
