you sure you have the right security code in?

it will tell you its incorrect key

ps, is any1 keep tabing under

    >Settings

    >Reset

    >reset Network Settings

thats how to erase network ID's and keys

Yes, I connect after entering the security code.  However if I turn the Touch off & back on, or if I leave range of the wireless it does not automatically reconnect when coming back into range or when I restart the unit.  I lost my old Touch, it was up to date on software, and I never had too re-enter the security code.

I also had already tried the reset network setting, it did not help.

sounds like a problem with the router.

i say that is bc my laptop would not connect to our 1st router, it would only connect to our 2nd router which connects wirelessly to the 1st one. why's that i have no idea and been like that for 2 weeks.

    today i finnaly fixed it

all i did to fix it was give it a new name and a new passkey. it was the same name as before but the name SSID are all caps now than it was before. now, i can finnaly connect to the 1st router and it will now auto connect to it now.

    sad part of it is

-change passcodes to all wireless devices

    but that's easy todo.

Are you hiding your router's SSID?  Hidden networks cause all kinds of problems.

Try Settings -> Wi-Fi -> tap blue arrow on your network name -> tap Forget this Network, now reconnect and enter your password.

The network is not hidden.  The only thing that has changed, is that I lost my old IPOD, bought a new one, updated the software & restored all of my old apps etc.  The issue is not resolved from any suggestions made in this forum thusfar.  I had already tried them, tried them again and I still have to enter the security every time to connect to my wifi.

    just the courusity,

reformat the iPod Touch and put it as a New iPod,

    connect to the network,

turn off the wifi or get out of range or turn the device off,

turn it back on just to see if it connects or not.

I had the same problem, i fixed it by entering the SSID and password manually

Just click on "other.." under choose a Network

go onto wifi and click ask to join networks then type in the password and it should remember

I have been fighting this same issue where the iPod appears to not retain the security password to connect to the WI-FI when the iPod was shut down for a period of time.

In my case it appeared that my wireless router was not seeing the name of the iPod with the associated mac address. The IPod device name on the router was showing as "Unknown"

Verify the name and mac address (Wi-FI address) of your iPod via General/About

View the wireless status entry on your router to make sure there is an entry matching that of the iPod.

In my case the iPod mac address was there, with the incorrrect name  "Unknown"

My solution was to Reset the Network on the iPod and shut it down.

I then power cycled my router clearing the Wireless status entries.

Wait for the Wireless router to come back up.

Power the iPod back on let it find the preferred network and re-enter the security code.

This appears to have corrected the issue for me.
