My mac has developed a lag in all browsers for loading the first page.

When you launch safari, firefox chrome have tried all) all take 5-10 minutes to load the first website, whatever that may be. My home page is set to google but clicking on a bookmark etc does not bring up another website any quicker.

Once the first page has loaded then the browsing is normal, the subsequent pages load quicky and there is no problem but them when the computer goes to sleep, restarts or safari etc is closed and reopened the problem starts all over again and there is another 5-10 minute wait...

I have an ipad and an iphone, both of which function normally. And all other applications on my iMac can connect to the internet quickly and download information eg mail also house mates laptop connects to browsers quickly.

I have tried emptying caches, resetting safari, removing plugins etc with no possitive effects.

I have created another user account to see if there is a similar problem with this user and there is, there is still a 5-10 minute wait for the first page load.

I have also tried resetting the router, adding DNS servers in network preferences all to no avail.

Please can someone help me??

I cant bear having to wait 10 minutes if i just need some quick information from the internet on my mac.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), Intel i7 8GB RAM
