I checked the number on other threads here, it appears to be a motor fan error in the CPU and if I understand it correctly, the speed is 2 from the number????
I presume I can get that fixed, but if one fan is on the way out, or in fact dead. Am I about to flog a dead horse if I start on the mending road? Do computers get mended these days, or is that just throwing good money after bad? I obviously do not have money to burn.
I am really grateful to you for guiding me and saving my sanity. I could never have found this out by myself in a million years. I'm almost glad it has a good reason to be going wrong and it isn't my fault.
Thank you ever so much for helping me find out what is wrong.
Gigantic virtual beers all round..... if I could make you taste it, I would. Give yourselves a really big hug from me instead.

Pass number 2 comes up with the same result and pass 3, same too.

Well I've been reading and reading about what to do next.
Firstly I'm going to try resetting the SMC from this article
Then I'm going to install SMCfancontrol and temperature monitor to see what happens then....

I know I'm kind of running a monologue here, but maybe it will help someone else like I have been helped.
I did the SMC reset thing, then installed the SMCfancontrol app. It tells me the same story,
I tried altering the CPU fan speed on it and nothing happened. I read that dust can cause a jammed fan, so looked into taking the whole computer apart. By the looks of it, that isn't a job to take lightly judging by the utube videos.
I've a nasty feeling I cannot solve this myself...... but not through lack of trying.
