- make sure you actually have the connection pressed in all the way. It can be a little tight sometimes
- Make sure the volume is turned up and yOunare not muted
- Check the headphones on another device to ensure they are not the issue.

Is it music you can't hear, or an app?
If it's an app, you might be muted. Double click the home button or swipe up with four fingers and slide your finger from left to right. Unclick the mute button. Also, try flipping the switch in the side of your iPad above the volume buttons.

I tried all the above suggestions but it wasn't until I COMPLETELY shut down the iPad and then restarted did the headphones begin to work.
Previously they hadn't muted the sound when putting them in.
