Exactly my issue with them on this....
And as pointed out in the above one, the reply from them does seem to intimate that we CAN formulate our own security, but the default from Apple is ******** uestions...
I've simply turned round and said that not one of the responses is satisfactory, nd that this is one less customer for Apple until it is resolved and I can make my own security.

what in the heck was apple thinking of? the security questions are senseless. first concert i went to? some idiotic product manager got a wild hair and decided to put a half-assed solution together. this is absolutely infuriating. also requires a second email address.
at a minimum we should be able to make up our own security questions.
GRRRRRR - I hate itunes for this. I'm dumping itunes for now and sticking with pandora.

Well this has just cost Apple some business. I went to buy an album on iTunes and got asked to enter these silly security questions. I didn't bother because they are such stupid questions that I would have to make up an answer for and then write it down somewhere so I can remember it. Apple could have at least allowed us to set the questions ourselves AND the answers. In the end I just went to the store and bought the CD. Only cost me $1 more, but I can load it on as many devices as I like.

I have to say the same. In fact this has shown how over priced iTunes actually is for music, when I can buy an album direct from the artist and get it cheaper than a digital download. In the last three weeks Apple have missed out on 5 albums worth of sales from me. With more to come I'm sure.

Yes @smuffster, iTunes is ridiculously overpriced in Australia compared to the US or even retail here. My old 1st gen iPad is full of kids games now and it is just going to stay that way until the battery dies. I apologised to my 4yo last week and said we would be getting toys instead of ipad games from now on. I went to an Android phone and I don't think my wife will update her iPhone. I still like Apple's design and engineering but I am starting to think the magic has worn off and there are better alternatives now. Stuff like the security questions was just a trigger really, the resentment over things like discriminatory iTunes pricing is the bigger issue.

I just want to buy a song from AppStore, then this silly Security Info blocked me from my purchase.
I will never tell Apple - who has my first kiss; or my favorite anything. None of your business.
Much easier for me to buy songs else where; or replace iPhone with an Android.
Samsung Galaxy Note would be a nice replacement.

I'm supposed to verify my card details but the card in question expired 04/12 so the system won't allow verify. Contact support and get told to edit the details but it's asking me for two security questions.
I keep getting security questions one of which I didn't select and it's driving me insane. I have credit on account and can't make a purchase :/...***....
Can't change security question unless you know the security questions & support just directs me to the same loop. Enable this to be opt out and if a account is verified by email and password why are the security questions essential.

Indeed. You are kind. The questions are....stupid. I've never owned a car (yep) and the rest of them are citified culturally biased. I am 65 and do not remember childhood stuff. Dumb very dumb.

It is even more insane than I thought. Apparently you have to enter a recovery email address which can NOT be the same as your Apple ID email address. How do I get on when I only have 1 email address ? I refuse to set up these stupid question/answers and I am not going to open a new email address just to keep some IT child at Apple happy. Looks like this is the end of my dealings with iTunes which is a shame because I still have $50 credit in my account. Message to Apple - we are not all naive children, some of us are adults and would prefer to be treated as such.

Im really annoyed with the daft questions, which really did not mean anything to me.
Who on earth thought them up?
So i will struggle to remember them and what if you dont have a second email address (luckily i do).
Not sure this has been thought up very well and where was this announced?
Just saw this popup today when I was purchasing a free app.
Did at first think I might have a virus, as it wasnt that intuitive as a popup.
But Im in and all ok now.
