Mission Control Shortcut Keys not Working. Help Please!

I have an iMac (about 8 months old) running Lion 10.7.3. Today when I turned it on, my shortcut keys for desktops/spaces just stopped working. I have no idea what the problem is.

In "settings > keyboard > mission control", I have a check mark in "move left a space" and my shortcut defined as "command+1". Same for "move right a space" (only command+2). There are no conflicts. But for some reason, they don't work. I just get this annoying sound you get when a shortcut is undefined.

I have tried:

-Rebooting (didn't help)

-Returning to defaults (didn't help. In fact, the "move left/right a space" do not work even with default settings)

-Banging my head against the wall (didn't help).

If you have any ideas, please let me know! Thanks!

I have the same problem. Though if I do killall Dock the mission control is function corectly again. My spaces / desktops are also in disorder so I have to move them to right place. But after a restart the problem is back - no mission control. It has to be a update bug.

I have just reinstalled the intire system. Did it sunday last week.

I didn't have this mission control problem on the old system which I installed in january 2012.

Both system is/was Lion and I usually update but I have had som HD-problems so I was careful with the update since a month ago.

Now I have Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50) and I think I have had this problem from the beginning.

Paste this into Terminal (it's all one line, not two):

mv ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist ~/Desktop/com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist

Press 'return'.

Log out and log in to your system.

Go to System Prefs and set up your hotkeys as you want.

Does that work?

Corrupt plist files are fairly common and can occur for all sorts of reasons. Don't worry about it unless the same thing recurs, then we'll need to look for a common cause.

🙂

EDIT: BTW, if it worked, that 'com.apple.....plist' file that's sitting on your Desktop screen can be sent to the trash now. You don't need it.

Hello everybody ! I had the same problem and, yes, the terminal command worked well. But, after each restart, the problem is coming back, and I have to redo the terminal command, it's becoming annoying !

Do you guys have any more solutions or something to try ?

I'm on Maverick.

Thanks !
