Sorry, I've looked at the page you linked to, it's about ports and connectors, I'm still not sure which images you are talking about.

The ports are in a different order in the image. On my Apple TV the power is right-most not, as in the image, left most.

It sounds like you are holding the AppleTV upside down. The shiny side with the logo goes up. The matte side goes down.
