I have no idea how fast your Samsung is, but this just isn't my experience at all. Safari still gobbles up lots of RAM, but it also seems to release it, and the delayed loading is gone. My uptime is now 18 days.

I have 8GB of RAM, and everything is at the latest version.

Have you tried FireFox or Chrome?

I have no idea how fast it is precisely, but it's a hare to my macbook tortoise. And it was just over half the price. It leaves the macbook pro and the imac for dead as well.

I have no safari extensions and had no real issue prior to Lion, which ***** bigger than Safari. I'd pay double to go back. I know Mountain Lion is coming. It may be my last ever Mac purchase, but I guess that depends on Mac's suck hole developers.

I'm glad your experience seems to be fantastic.

I have already moved to chrome... not bad, but on day two, already much slower than day one.

You definitely have a problem somewhere. What are your system specs? Any chance your harddrive is close to full?

I swear, if I ever see this message again I'm going to trash Safari immediately.

    good luck ;-)

some years ago, this hole apple os and hardware were real work toys, solid and stable

now it's only a hardly over prized piece of toy crap

only the ios stuff for the shareholder value is working like a charm

safari (and all other browser are unusable crap too) catches 100% cpu power after 1 hour and the fan is running at full speed till i stop the process, on current air and mini server

    i'm so p i s s e d of that i sold my mac pro, 2x c2d minis, iphone 4 & 4s, ipad 1&2 32gb wifi, atv2 and the air in the next weeks too, only the mini i7 and a 3gs will be remaining

i'm a hardcore apple user for around 22 years, but now it's enough with these false priorities to these ios toy ****

You've got other problems. That's not the one being reported here.

Flash maybe? Or something loading at startup that needs to be upgraded or just eliminated?

You've got something else going on.

Flash is not the issue. Please don't discount this problem just because you havn't experinced it. Your post is less than useful.

I didn't discount your problem. It just needs another thread. This one is not about how all the browsers on one's machine are "unusable crap."

And your line about selling all your Apple products strongly suggests that you're trollling. In any case, you haven't carefully read this thread.

It seems to be that the problem is more common when the disk is thrashing (usually due to Safari eating up all the memory, perhaps due to leaks?).

I have upgraded to safari 6.0 and Mountain Lion. Still getting the same problem!!!

Yes, so did I upgrade. The thing is that I now use Chrome... so I don't need to be bothered by Safari and its inadequacies. To think just six months ago I could never conceive not using safari. Love affairs don't last.

For me this issue has always had a correlation to flash video, and leaving too many windows/tabs open with videos in them. Video of all sorts, really, but mostly flash.

With that in mind, I may have found a fix.

I installed the ClickToFlash extension a day ago, and so far I have not had any forced reloads. I always have tons of windows and tabs open.

The plugin works like this: if possible, Safari will load an HTML5 version of a video instead of a Flash version. If there isn't an HTML5 version available, you click on the video and it plays the flash version. I'm running Safari 6, Mountain Lion, btw.

Generally speaking, browsers prefer HTML5 to Flash b/c it's less of a resource hog. I could go on, but that's really the main issue.

Since installing ClickToFlash, Safari has fun faster, my fan has been less active, and I have not had any forced reloads. There are drawbacks, however.

One drawback is that your videos will play in HTML5, so you don't get certain playback features found in flash players. For most of us, what that means is all YouTube videos, whether viewed on youtube.com or elsewhere, will only have basic play/pause playback functionality. Things like playback speed, sharing, resolution quality, etc., won't be available.

Personally, of the missing features I only care about resolution. However, what I've found is the HTML5 version will typically play the highest res version available, and it will load much faster without slowing your browser or computer down, AND there's no visible reduction in quality. So it's really a push.

One other down side is that some sites will not load any videos if there isn't an HTML5 version of that video available. This can be fixed by going to the ClickToFlash settings > General > check: "Load Flash if HTML5 Conversion Fails". Just remember, if you do that then you have to be careful not to leave that window/tab open too long or you may cause another forced reload!

    That's it. Hope this helps.

will have to try this. ClickToFlash would not work on last version of Safari. I will say that so far for me, in Safari 6.0, the force reload message doesn't show up as much, actually quite infrequently, but i notice that they will reload themselves without asking - and faster than before.

Just an update: I noticed that if you hover the mouse in the upper left hand corner of an HTML5 video using the ClickToFlash plugin, you can adjust the resolution.
