Loading the Combo update didn't fix the problem, 10.7.4 still was unable to open the file. Just to be sure I booted back into 10.7.3 and the RW2 file was able to be decoded by Preview.

So it appears as if something was broken in the upgrade to 10.7.4. I'd advise you to report this to Apple.

good luck, sorry I wasn't able to do more

Just to add, I have the same Camera, updated with Combo update, no issues.Hope this may help somehow. I do notice that Apple usually bring out an update for RAW compatability pretty quickly after each OS update if that helps at all.

hmm would it be worth going back to 10.7.3 then doing the combo update from there?

May well be, although in the past most have been able to just install the Combo update over the other install and it works just as well. Saves time also. If your Download data limit is a problem, as mine often is being Mobile, then try aranging with a friend or family member who has ample download allowance (or even your local Apple Shop) and download it there onto a flash drive. Like I'm doing at the moment! lol

    Good Luck

just to report out that I'm having the same problem with Panasonic RAW files (I have a GH2). See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3945321?tstart=0

I did do software update originally and then did apply combo update 10.7.4 (over the 10.7.4). That didn't help.

let me know if you have any success in fixing this.

I got this fixed by reverting to the previous RAW update from Apple:

    cd /System/Library/CoreServices

    sudo rm -rf ./RawCamera.bundle

    sudo rm -rf ./CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library/RawCameraTypes.bundle

Download and install the most recent RAW Update 3.12 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1513)

And everything (Finder preview and iPhoto, PhotoStream) is working again like a charm with my Panasonic GH2 RAW files

Ok so I went back to 10.7.3 and the files worked again, did the combo update and they stopped working, then tried deleting and reinstalling the raw compatibility files to no avail. hmmmm

I tried your solution but it didn't work for me. It is not possible to install this update as I don't have iphoto 9 / Aperture installed on my system (I use iphoto 8) - see screenshot (hm inserting images does not seem to work, so here it is http://dl.dropbox.com/u/847449/alert-install.jpg

I tried older versions, with the same result. The newest version I was able to install was 3.0 and this actually included support for my camera. But it didn't change anything either, still no RAW support!

So maybe all this has to do with 10.7.4. - so I suppose I'd better downgrade to 10.7.3.

Im going to leave it as is, import to iphoto still seems to work and then I can export to PNG or TIFF until a fix can be found or hopefully 10.8 will be out soon and the issue resolved.

Again, you guys should make sure you file a bug report or at least give feedback on this.

Try this workaround.  Paste this entire command into Terminal and hit return.  That should fix it.

    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -R /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library

Looks like the post got screwed up.  I'll try again.  Paste this into Terminal and hit return...

    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.fram ework/Support/lsregister -R /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library

You may need to remove an extra space that's being inserted in the command above, but otherwise it should work.

Thank you very much Snoop Dogg. This helps.

I had the same problem with Panasonic GH2 and the newest updade to 10.7.4 with my iMac. Aperture and/or Lion was not able to recognize this RAW format. Additonaly Aperture was not able to make a correct white balance.

    Thanks again.

Only one question: What does this line mean? I have typed in this line as standar user. Does it repair the symptom for all users on one system or only for me? Should I type it in as "adminstrator"?

    Bye,

    OdysseusL
