Assuming that I have lyrics added in iTunes on my IMac how do I view the lyrics on the iPad synced with that iMac?

iPad, iOS 5.1.1

Due to a  nasty bug introduced in the iPad version of iOS 5, you can't, unlike on the small-screen devices or iOS 4.x. You, unfortunately, must use third-party apps. They won't be able to access the lyrics you add in iTunes.

See my post at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3946382?tstart=30 for more info.

It is NOT a bug. For reasons undisclosed, Apple backed out some functionality in the music app with  iOS 5.

(But why take away such an important functionality from the iPad, while iPhones and iPod touches still show lyrics in all iOS 5.x versions? To make more people jailbreak for adding the functionality back via Lyricalizer? The latter would be pretty illogical from Apple - after all, they can't want people to jailbreak...)

Why?  There are a lot of reason, including a self imposed limit on the OS overhead, potential functionality conflicts, preparatory framework develop, etc. Apple hasn't said, and most likely aren't going to. I would think we will see some of it back in in one form or another, maybe by iOS 6 which appears to be around the corner (as in maybe sometime later this year). Personally, I hope so, not for the lyric display - I could care less - but I would love to see an improved codec and better sort ability/filtering and integration with iCloud and iTunes Match. Alas, no way to tell what is one the way or really when.

Dunno... currently, as it's impossible to access in-file lyrics (added in iTunes) from third-party apps, this is indeed a big problem IMHO, at least for people that don't speak English as their mother tongue and, consequently, prefer having lyrics around.

The issue is pretty annoying because,

1, at the same time, small-screen devices like the iPhone and iPod touch display lyrics just fine. That is, iOS 5 itself isn't incompatible with displaying the lyrics. (Not even on the iPad - on jailbroken devices, with Lyricalizer, displaying lyrics in exactly the same way as was under 4.x works just fine. That is, it might be a bug still not fixed.)

2, the issue has been known by Apple every since the official debut of 5.0 (there were numerous bug reports) but there still isn't at least a quick explanation like "sorry guys, we had to take it away because...", let alone reintroducing it to Music.
