I cannot speak to your experience with tech support...I was not there.

My experience with AppleCare has always been great however as Barry said "I cannot speak to your experience with tech support...I was not there." I'd recommend calling back, (800) 275-2273 in the USA and trying again. Remember to be polite, if you do you should be treated the same, assuming you follow the instructions connecting a printer should be very simple even a Wi-Fi printer assuming that printer supports Wi-Fi printing on OS X.
If you still have trouble then call (800) 757-2775, Customer Relations which is a customer advocate.

If you didn't, ask to speak to a senior tech. The first level techs, the usual first responders, are often not very knowledgeable, but try to appear as if they are.

I was suprised that they were not even willing to talk to me! I have a new desktop imac( 4 months old ) a cable modem from time warner, our cable provider. It connects to a netgear router. It is networked with a vista pc via ethrenet cable. It should connect wirelessly to a new epson combination scan print fax machine a artisan 837 it is air print capable. It has worked for 4 months since it was purchased. No settings were changed. The computer says printing, like it is in progress, the printer says operation timed out. I will try to get help from epson. I tried a connection it via usb, to get the job done. Still won"t print. Thanks for any suggestions!

How are you trying to locate your Printer?
You need to add the printer in System Prefs> Print & Scan, then click the + button. If your printer is on and connected to the Network, it should appear in the printer field. Select it and click next.
It should be that simple.
