May 16, 2012 3:21 PM in response to rona37by b noir,I keep gettting a message "Could not open key" followed by a series of identifying numbers.
Doublechecking before proceeding ... is that key of the following form?
UNKNOWN\Components\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbers]\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumber s].
(The \Components\ part is pretty significant ... there's a similar one that can hit folks which mentions \Source List\Media\ instead.)

So, let's try Steps 2 through 17 from that user tip:
... and then try another Safari update. Does it go through without the error message this time?

May 16, 2012 6:16 PM in response to b noirby rona37,Actually no. I uninstalled Safari, followed all 17 steps; on step 14 select administrators and click apply the following message came up "Registry Editor could not set owner on the key currently selected, or some of its subkeys". I tried reinstalling Safari and got the same message as before.

May 17, 2012 9:16 AM in response to b noirby rona37,I went throgh the Regedit procedure again but on step 12 instead of selecting Advanced I gave full control to all selections since I am the only one that uses the computer anyways. I then ran Safari update again, it worked with no error messages and I now have Safari back. Thank you for all your help!
