I can confirm that 5.1.1 DOES NOT break Exchange 2010 email. Mine works just as it always did.
If verification fails this means that the Exchange server is rejecting the connect request. Either the server address is wrong or the user ID or password you are entering is wrong. Or your phone does not conform to your IT security policies.

Thank you for the response.
The username and password are correct. The server address is correct.
Obviously the server is rejecting the request, but again, the identical account worked prior to the upgrade.

Delete the account. Reboot the phone (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears). Add the account back.

Thanks. I was able to add the account back using this method and successfully connect.
Still, this is problematic as many users are experiencing the problem.
Worked on iPad and iPhone.

I have had the same thing happen since upgrading to IOS 5.1.1. I was on the phone yesterday with Verizon and network solutions for 3 hours.....not a server issue. Today i was on the phone with tech support at apple for 2 hours.....still not fixed. some are having issues with email, but not all. It may look like your emails are going out, I was not getting an error message and they were in my sent box, but they never made it anywhere.
Off to the apple store tonight, but definitely an upgrade glitch.........

Have you tried the steps described above your message in this thread?

If they are in the sent mail box, then it's not a problem with the phone. The phone is syncing with the Exchange server. If they are making it to 'sent', then the server is definitely at fault.

Yes I am having this problem as well.
From what I have seen so far, it happens first thing in the morning on one of my devices and not the other. This morning it was my iPad. Yesterday morning it was my iPhone.
It seems to clear itself after a few hours but this is definitely a new problem since the latest update 5.1.1.

I am having issues when trying to connect to webmail through exchange. I am also getting the same error message. It's like the server times out and won't connect. This issue is tied to the new upgrade. It stopped working right after the upgrade.

If you're using the same server name you use to connect to Outlook Web Access, it won't work. Get the correct information from your IT department.

I have the correct information from our IT Dept. it's not an issue on there end, nothing changed at my company, the upgrade has an issue not allowing me to connect.
I cannot connect using Safari, Webmail or by setting up an exchange account.

Lawrence is my hero..... That trick worked. I deleted the exchange account then held the sleep and power button on my iPad and re entered the account and it worked. Thank you Lawrence:)

If your ISP is Comacast read this:
I had similar problems with both my iphone and ipad when using my wifi, but not when using cellular. Turned out to be a Comcast issue with their implementation of DNSSEC validation. You can see my full explanation on my blog at http://blog.trif.com/?p=295. The site is being blocked by Comcast because the Microsoft portal does not meet DNSSEC validation rules. This applies to Comcast DNS Servers 220.127.116.11 and 18.104.22.168.

I tried what was mentioned (Delete the account. Reboot the phone (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears). Add the account back), but did not work. Further, I have three gmail accounts using exchange server, and only one stopped working a couple days ago. Any idea?
