Why doesApple iTunes frequently charge the credit card linked to my iTunes account when I have not purchased anything from the iTunes store? Every 3 to 10 days I am seeing seemingly random charges like $5.85, $13.59, $.99, $2.58, etc. Help!

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi + Cellular (VZ), iOS 5.1.1, I also have an iphone and ipad

Investigate to see if someone else is using your account. If someone else has your info like password with your apple ID they might use it to rent movies or purchase something.

Do you have an apple TV ? Is anyone else using it aside from you ?

If you have serious doubt , delete your credt card info and change your account password

Thanks. canadianstarbuck for your response and tips. I emailed Apple Support and created a case...and received a very quick response from one of their support reps indicating that an account within my household is making the purchases. Turns out, it might be a family member using an iPod touch that has my credit card linked to her account. So, again, appreciate your helpfulness.

If you have a serious doubt about someone purchasing from your account , sometime the answer is not very far.

Example: I have an AppleTV and my itunes account is "logged in " by default in the device itself. My girlfriend used my AppleTV as I was working and she happened to rent a movie via appleTV. What she didn't know is that she was using my itunes account. So I got charged for the movie she rented. I soon understood I had to log out from my itunes account everytime I use it on my appletv.

Everytime I purchase from itunes I get an email confirmation 24 hours later. Do you get those email conformation ?

If not , you may have to see in your account if there is an option for that. This way you have a better way to track what have been purchased from your account.

    To see your purchase history..

    Open itunes

From the menu bar top left corner select > STORE > view my account > type in your log in info ..

You will see your account information > scroll down to ...  Purchase history.

Thanks again canadianstarbuck! Turns out...after creating an 'Express Lane' support case with Apple (which they were very quick to respond to) I was able to confirm the charges were coming from my household.....a family member downloading music (without my permission!) on her iPod Touch which has my credit card connected to the account.

I went to my account and there is not purchase history for the last 18 months. My son and I both make purchases. But there seems to be some for around $17-20 when most of our purchases are in the $2.00 range.

Perhaps there is more than one iTunes account that is linked to your credit card? For example my daughter and I each have our own unique accounts, however both accounts have my credit card linked to them. If that is not the case, you may want to create an 'Express Lane' support case with Apple. I submitted a case on a Sunday (without speaking to anyone) and early the next day an Apple support rep was to help resolve my issue. In your case, document the most specific dates and specific $ charges from your credit card statement so the Apple support rep has something to go by for his/her research. Good luck!
