I want to force the replacement of an already existing output file that would result from "binhex encode foo" or "binhex decode foo.hqx".

The man page tells me to use -f or --force:

-f, --force
          perform the operation even if the output file already exists

but the option isn't recognized:

$ ls

seq2

$ binhex encode seq2

$ ls

seq2        seq2.hqx

$ binhex -f seq2.hqx

binhex: invalid option -- f

$ binhex --force seq2.hqx

binhex: unrecognized option `--force'

$ binhex decode -f seq2.hqx

binhex: invalid option -- f

$ rm seq2

$ binhex seq2.hqx

$ ls

seq2        seq2.hqx

Am I misinterpreting the man page, or otherwise doing something silly? I don't want to send the output elsewhere and copy it back later.
