On this page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3207

it says: The MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008), MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2009), and MacBook Pro (15-inch and 17-inch, Mid 2009) portable computers include a feature in the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences. This pane is for adjusting graphics performance. You can select "Better battery life" or "Higher performance" as shown below.

I have the MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2009).

THE OPTION IS NOT THERE FOR ME?  Apple why must you do this to me...

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Can you post a screen shot, Command+Shift+4 and capture just the energy saver window, for your system?

By the way, we are all fellow users on here, not Apple employees.  Apple doesn't listen to these Communities.

I realized after I posted that this probably isn't viewed by Apple employees.  My energy saver window lacks the Graphics options of better battery life and higher performance.  I'm now assuming that my mbp does not have two graphics cards.  I assumed it did because it listed mid 2009 as an option, but there must be different models of it.

Not necessarily, the graphics could be switching automatically.

It's just in later machines Apple decided to give the option for both, basically allowing the turning off the  CPU graphics by selecting the "higher performance" option.

There really is no "higher performance" actually

    Apple should have described it:

CPU Graphics + switching to GPU as needed: Better Battery Life

Use GPU all the time: Less Battery Life

Download the free MacTracker and look up your machine to determine if you have one or two GPU's

I checked MacTracker and verified that there are, in fact, two different mbps for mid 2009.  And mine is the one with 1 graphics card.  Unfortunate for my situation, but thanks!
