Why would installer balk at installing this saying," Flashback Removal Security Update can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."????

Is that the one for 10.5 or 10.6. Your profile is showing 10.5 and perhaps you are trying to run the one for 10.6?

Where are you getting the update from? Software Update or Apple Downloads?

It's not clear what kind of iMac you are using, either. There are both G5 and Intel 20" iMac 2.0GHz Macs. There is no Flashback removal for PPC Macs because Flashback won't install or run on PPC Macs.

There is no reason to try to install any Apple Flashback related software on your computer unless it shows up in Software Update.

There is also the small matter that the tool won't install unless the OS version is at the latest for the series.

If you're on Leopard, that means 10.5.8 is required.

Similarly for SL, 10.6.8 is required.
