Q: I have a blue screen

My iMac has a blue screen and will not do anything at all!

    Yep, the famous blue screen at boot time.

     

    It's also a gray screen with spinny thing or even a white with Apple logo.

     

     

    Get out your 10.6 installer disk, clean and polish the bottom with a clean cloth and a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol to polish to a shine and stick it into the machine

     

    reboot holding the c or option key down (select the disk to boot from)

     

    now on the second screen, simply reinstall OS X and reboot.

     

     

    When you get in, hit the Software Update until clear.

     

     

    Some programs are no longer going to work, you have to make sure if you install them again that they are updated to work with 10.6.8 before installing.
